In Australia Museum, we’ll launch the exhibit of Our Nation’s Deadliest Creatures as a limited-time educational piece.
Each creature’s death toll will be listed beside their display. But when we get to the male Homo sapiens, we’ll have mugshots of convicted offenders with their whopping statistic as Australia’s deadliest predator.
INT. We see an ocker, blokey zookeeper with a tour group. He’s standing in front of a door covered in warning signs.
He has a snake wrapped around his arm which he is slowly returning to a glass box.
ZOO KEEPER: Now, you’re about to see Australia’s deadliest creature. Snakes, sharks and crocodiles kill an average of 2-3 Aussies per year. But this predator has killed a whopping 39 people this year so far.
INT. We see the audience shocked and curious, pulling out their cameras and glancing at each other, excited to see this deadly predator.
ZOO KEEPER: Let’s meet him. Everyone, this is Ernie.
INT. We cut to see Ernie, a middle-aged man, in the exhibit. The habitat looks like a home living room.
ZOO KEEPER: Ernie is a male Homo sapiens, and he’s our biggest predator. Abusers like Ernie can be hard to spot in the wild, but in their domestic environments, it’s easier to spot the abusive behaviour.
ERNIE: (speaking to his victim off screen) How do you screw up everything?
INT. We pan out to see the audience photographing Ernie, who storms off.
SXF: we hear plates breaking as Ernie loses his temper off screen.
ENDFRAME SUPERS:
2 Australian women are being killed every week.
44% of Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders are broken.
Why aren’t we protecting women from their predators?
